Hi: My name is Susan Mack. In May of 2001 a small group of
people began holding Christian Science Sunday services on the south side of St. Louis. It was a
precious group of people, and it seemed the perfect opportunity to drag out
my guitar from my college days and do a little singing in this informal
setting. At first I would arrange hymns from the Christian Science Hymnal to
sing. Then I tried writing new musical settings for words from the Hymnal.
Slowly I began setting familiar Bible passages to original music and finally
one day I decided to attempt setting a Bible story to music and the result
was the song "Jairus' Daughter" (click to hear a
sample). This led to many more Bible stories and Bible passages set to
music, and now there are over 50 of them in existence, with more on the way.
Hi:
I am Bob Rockabrand. Who would have thought that three "music
majors" from my first teaching year at Principia College
would, 25 years later, form a folk music group called The Solo Committee, and then
hire me to arrange their folk songs into sheet music form? Well, that's exactly what's happened, and
I'm thrilled to be collaborating with Susan Mack, Sue Loomis and Carey Loomis
on this new and exciting project. I am using a computer program called "Sibelius". So far I have completed one solo entitled
"With Me," and it is posted here
on my website under “Solos”.
As other Solo Committee arrangements become available they will also
be posted on my website. The solos can
be downloaded and printed out for your use with instructions for how to send
payment to The Solo Committee. I also recommend that you check out The Solo
Committee's website www.solosommittee.com where you'll find the
solo "I Am Holding You," arranged by Sue Loomis. You will also find
The Solo Committee's seven albums for sale--four of which are available for
purchase in Christian Science Reading Rooms around the world.
