Memorial Day at Lake Loethen

Bill Hunter takes some of the kids for a spin in the canoe

John Wright fly fishing
For the last three years, we have had a little get together, at Lake Loethen. This just keeps getting bigger and bigger. The first year we had 26 people, in 1999 we had 53, and this year 76. On Sunday, the Dads and boys arrive early and set up camp. We fish all day, and in general just hang out at the lake.

After a big dinner, the men shoot the breeze around the camp fire. The boys play flash light tag and just run-around and explore the area.

One of the best parts is

"NO GIRLS ALLOWED".

We can take the appropriate time and teach the boys important things - like spitting.

On Monday morning, the wives, sisters, mothers, etc all show up.

Everybody brings a dish and Uncle Phil, fires up the BBQ.

This year Mike "Cat Man" Coulson brought his canoe and the kids took turns navigating the lake.
