Pow Wow Motel Bar © 2003
| I first stayed at the Pow Wow Motel in Tucumcari New Mexico in 2003. I loved the restaurant and lounge that you see here. It was such a well preserved example of retro design that I was thrilled. I stayed here again with some friends in June 2006, and mentioned that I couldn't wait to go sit in the cool lounge again. I was told that it was REMODELED after the ownership of the motel changed hands and was not anything I'd like any more. I was stunned. How could the new owners not know what they had? What a sad waste. Anyway, I didn't go in after hearing what had happened, I stayed in my room and around the pool. I wanted to remember the way it was. I wish I could tell you to go there and see this wonderful thing, but if you missed it, I'm afraid it's too late. |
