James A. Shepard family (minus Anna Mae) sometime prior to 1918. Polk's Boulder County Directory for 1918 listed three Shepards. James was the owner of Columbine Rooms at 1504 Pearl. He is listed with Lottie and Clara as a resident there. This picture was possibly taken alongside the building. Lottie is seated and one of the two girls that are standing is Pauline who lived in Arizona.

Congratulations from Grandpa Shepard on the birth of James Robert Balmer (1913).  Since he signed the note "Foxy Grandpa" he was probably making reference to this cartoon character.
