Ode To A Slow E-mail Day

Dick Goodwin

My Inbox is empty, don't know what to do,

No Donny, no Nancy, no Dianne, no Sue.

I stare at my screen, coffee close by,

No TGIF, no hello, no Hi!

Is anybody home, can anybody hear?

Send me an e-mail, you needn't be near.

Has your addiction died, did you go see a shrink?

I know your computer doesn't run out of ink.

My mind's in a tizzy, my soul's in a rut,

I hope you don't think I'm some kinda nut.

I could go outside, I could watch TV,

But an empty Inbox ain’t no way to be.

I could get the phone and give you a call,

But it’s so much easier to hit Reply To All.
